The Pool apartment is set in two acres of beautiful grounds, consisting of natural terrain and partly-landscaped gardens, with oleanders, hibiscus, agaves and palms, plus olive, carob and almond trees.  The approach is down a 100m private drive, which affords total seclusion. In spring the natural gardens abound with wild flowers including many orchids.

Enjoy your own private space in our modern villa built in traditional Portuguese style.   The apartment is a fusion of traditional materials and modern design. It is bright and spacious with a large living/dining room and fully fitted kitchen area which is well equipped with an induction hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetière, cutlery and all kitchen utensils.

The king size bed has cool cotton bedding and hypoallergenic pillows.  The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower.  The double doors lead out to your own private terrace,   with table and chairs for alfresco dining.

Outside and surrounded by the gardens is a large 11m x 4m pool with sun-beds, and umbrellas for shade.   We provide large towels for use by the pool,  also a Beach Bag with towels, beach mats, sun umbrellas and cold bags with ice packs.  The pool is just for your use, it is not shared with anyone else.

The apartment has a bluetooth speaker, dozens of books, free wireless internet access, clothes-airer, hairdryer, an iron and ironing board. The  linen and towels will be changed weekly.   There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom and for winter rentals, heating is provided.

A welcome pack can be provided with essentials for your first breakfast, and if you are arriving late we will be happy to book you a table at a local restaurant.

The large BBQ and picnic table is ideal for eating out and enjoying all the fresh fish from the local markets, and lit by candles and lanterns is a lovely way to spend an evening.   The gardens have a variety of shaded seating areas from which to enjoy the slow passage of Algarve time.

The owners live in separate accommodation close by.

Casa Jardim is situated just 3 kilometres from the market town of MONCARAPACHO where you will find numerous bars and several very good restaurants and a number of small but well stocked supermarkets.

We are just 20 minutes from Faro Airport, and as a CAR is ESSENTIAL we suggest that you pick up a rental car there. Directions from the airport to Casa Jardim are easy to follow.

Moncarapacho is midway between the regional capitol of Faro and the beautiful and historic town of Tavira, and just 30 minutes from the Spanish border. It is a short drive to the coast and some beautiful sand dune backed beaches in one direction, and the unspoiled countryside in the other. There are spectacular views from the surrounding hills which are perfect for exploring by car or on foot.

Our nearest beaches are at Fuzeta which is just 10 minutes away where you will find a bar for drinks and snacks right on the beach!   Here you have the choice of the sheltered beach on the Ria behind the sand dunes, or taking the small ferry for a 5 minute trip over to the ocean, where there are also a number of small beach bars plus sun beds.

The Ria Formosa Nature reserve is a protected area that stretches for many miles along the coast from Faro to the Spanish border, and includes most of the beaches. The area is home to many wild birds and is situated on the route for birds migrating between Africa and Northern Europe, and is of world ornithological importance. The reception office for the reserve is only 10 minutes from Casa Jardim.

The bustling fishing town of Olhao which possesses the best fish and produce market in the area is 10 minutes away, and well worth a visit.  From the harbour you can take the ferry and visit the nearby islands of Armona and Culatra. Along the seafront and in the narrow cobbled streets are more than two dozen restaurants and bars, many specialising in the very fresh locally caught fish. Most are traditional Portuguese and offer great value. The ‘prato do dia’ is excellent value at around €10 and often includes a beer, dessert and coffee! There is also a choice of Italian and Chinese cuisine.

Nearby in Estoi is the impressive 18th Century Palace and Gardens, and at Milreu lie the excavated remains of a Roman Palace, with fragments of mosaics depicting mythical marine motifs.

Tavira, which is described as ‘the most beautiful town in the Algarve’ is not to be missed. The river runs through the centre and is crossed by the Roman Bridge. There are spectacular views from the ruined castle walls across a skyline of churches towards the sea.

Other Things to Note

The Algarve is the most southerly region of Portugal. It is 200k from east to the west, and just 50k north to south, making it easy to explore and enjoy everything that the area has to offer.  It is still relatively quiet as mass tourism has not yet reached this area. Thanks to the protected national park of the Ria Formosa the natural character of the East Algarve remains preserved and is typically Portuguese.

From Faro to the Spanish border, the coast has beautiful sandy beaches.  Many are backed by dunes and there are lagoons and sand islands, several reached by a short ferry ride.  Although many tourists come for the sun, sea and beaches the area has so much more to offer with many typical old towns and villages to be explored.
